These are cakes wound directly from the coned JC Rennie yarns. These yarns are 'greasy' - i.e. they have not been scoured and contain some of the natural lanolins in them as well as some oils from the spinning process. You can knit this yarn directly, and then soak the finished item twice with detergent to remove the oils and get the nice soft handle of the scoured yarn. Offering these yarns allows us to expand the colour range of the Rennie yarns. The wound cakes and the scoured hand knitting 50g balls can all be used together in fair isle projects. Alternatively they can be used to make oiled garments that offer some water proofing.
